1. All commands can be typed from a PC keyboard.

This makes testing and verifcation of all commands from a PC much easier without any special softwares.

2. Special commands which displays a decimal value or a hex value of a byte.

This very is important for debugging variables and showing current values onscreen without having to convert numeric values to a string first.

3. Hard Reset command.

Sometimes LCD modules can go crazy and displays funny characters that cannot be cleared by the ClearScreen command.

The only way to recover is to manually switch off power to the LCD module. This command when called periodically (like once every hour) eliminates this problem.

4. BackLight control commands.

Most serial LCD offerings on the market do not have commands to control the display's backlight and forces you to use another precious pin from your main processor to control the backlight. iLCD's built in BackLight control does not waste another pin of your processor.

5. Built in Voltage Regulator.

iLCD can be powered by 5V directly or 7-12v through the built-in voltage regulator.

This is crucial when the display is extended long distances or when a stable 5V supply is unavailable.

6. Commands that clears any one line of the LCD display.

For applications that keep on updating the screen every second, using ClearScreen command would create an irritating flicker.

This command makes the frequent updating flicker free and makes your product looks more professional.

7. Auto Contrast that needs no manual adjustments

iLCD's contrast is always at the best optimised position, and does not need any manual adjustments.

8. Correct and automatic handling of <Carriage Return> and <BackSpace> characters

A <CR> will move the cursor to the next line.

A <BackSpace> will move the cursor backwards by 1 space.

This automatic handling of special characters makes it easier to handle the display and to implement a dumb terminal.

9. Easily Extended up to 20 feet away from the main processor using flat 4 wire telephone cables and RJ11 plugs.

This is important for applications where the display needs to be far from the main processor or PC.

For example, in kiosks or callshop systems.

10. Baud rate factory pre-programmed for 1200, 2400, 4800 or 9600

iLCD offers more baud rate choices. No pacing required.

Both RS232 level and TTL level volatges are acceptable.

11. The SX processor on the iLCD can be re-programmed.

This allows firmware updates and also allows for special customer requirements.

12. Sleep Mode

iLCD can be commanded to go to sleep which consumes only 1mA current.

Information on LCD display can still be seen during sleep.

iLCD will wake up automatically when new characters are sent to it.
